Business Person of the Year - Ronan Dunne Class of 1981

Ronan Dunne Class of 1981 has been selected as the Business Person of the Year 2023 and will be presented with his award at the Annual Business Lunch on the 24th of November

Ronan is a Chairman, CEO, Board Strategic Advisor and independent non-executive director.

He currently serves as Chair of Six Nations Rugby, NED at Marks & Spencer and advisor to companies in the telecom and technology sector.

He previously served as EVP and CEO at Verizon Wireless and Verizon Consumer Group, most recently serving as strategic advisor to the Chairman & CEO.  At Verizon he was responsible for Revenues of >$90bn and >100m Consumers.

Prior to Verizon, Ronan was CEO of leading UK mobile operator Telefonica UK (O2).  Under his leadership O2 became the industry leader, with Ronan being named the 2015 Ethical Corporation CEO of the Year. He has served on the board of US telecoms industry body, CTIA, the UK Government Digital Economy Advisory Board and the board of the UK Tech Partnership.

Ronan’s charitable work focuses on education and providing opportunities for the next generation of leaders.  Ronan serves on the Advisory Board of the Kairos Society and is a counsellor for One Young World, which promotes positive change and social impact. He previously served as Trustee of King Charles’ youth social action charity, Step Up to Serve.

Ronan is a Chartered Accountant and former banker and is married to Elaine and they have one daughter, Charlotte. Ronan has been based overseas in the UK and US since 1987.
