Michael “Mike” Gallagher, a proud Irishman, devoted family man, and lifelong rugby enthusiast, passed away on the 14/6/26 in Poole England, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humour, and loyalty. Born in Ballina to Michael Gallagher and Nancy Gallagher (née Mullen), Mike carried his roots with pride throughout his life.
Educated at Blackrock College, Mike developed a love for sport that stayed with him always, particularly rugby. A passionate supporter of both Ireland and Bath Rugby, he was rarely shy in sharing his strong opinions, especially when it came to referees!
Known for his love of cards, Mike found great joy in games of bridge, poker, and any gathering where a hand could be dealt and stories shared. Tall in stature and generous in spirit, he was happiest in the company of friends and family. Enjoyed watching rugby and encouraging players as Oxlungs... especially with the Rockwell teams.
Mike is survived by his loving wife June, his daughters Rachel and Miriam, and his sons Andy and Mike Jr. He was a cherished father-in-law to Sam, Nikki, and Mark, and a proud grandfather to Charlie, Katie, Cormac, Amy, and Mia, who brought him immense joy.
He is also deeply mourned by his beloved sister Maureen McGauran, his “forever sunshine” and his brother-in-law James, along with his nieces Anne Marie, Barbara, and Louise, and all who knew and loved him.
Mike will be remembered for his wit, his passion, and the love he gave so freely. He will be greatly missed.
