The Union is saddened to learn of the loss of Alphonsus Corless

Alphonsus Corless became the oldest living Irishman in 2024 and was 106years when he passed.  Alphonsus has been the oldest past student for a number of years after leaving Blackrock in 1937.

CORLESS, Alphonsus (b.1918), The Nurseries, Taylor's Hill, Galway, (formerly of Kinvara and Carlow), peacefully in the company of his loving family on 1st March, 2025.

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Beatty (née Norton - 2011)

Father of Al, Bernard, Catherine (Taaffe), Cecily (Corrigan), Mary (Bailey) and Michael;
Father-in-law to Ania, Raymond and Shay; Grandfather to Adrian, Charley, Daniel, David, Helen, Katie, Lorna, Lynda, Monique, Pamela, Stephen, Tom and Vera; Grandfather-in-law to Aaron, Adam, Brian, Ciarán, Courtney, Emily, Grace, James, Juan, Katie, Mel and Petr; Great grandfather to Ada, Annabelle, Emilia, Jack, James, Lucia, Malachy, Millie, Odhrán, Oli, Ted, Theo, Will and Zoe.

Deeply regretted by his extended family, nephews, nieces and friends.
