The Union was saddened to learn of the loss of Cyril Irwin (1953)

Cyril died on the 28th April 2021 in Rathfarnham at the age of 85. He was the son of former teacher ‘Echo’

Predeceased by his parents William Henry Irwin and Margaret Irwin. Fondly remembered by his sister Hazel (Tom), his nieces Nuala (Fabio), Helen (Rene), nephew Liam, his three grandnieces, Valentina, Simona and Francesca, and a host of wonderful friends.

A truly generous and convivial man, Cyril enjoyed his long life, both with the College of Surgeons, the Stephen’s Green Club, Monkstown Football Club and, best of all, the Pembroke Cricket Club, which he loved and was loyal to for 73 years, having joined as a 12 year old in 1948.

Funeral Mass will restricted to twenty five people on Thursday, May 6, at 2pm in St Mary's, Star of the Sea Church, Sandymount. The Mass may be viewed live with the following link: https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st-marys-star-of-the-sea-sandymount

The hearse will pass Pembroke Cricket Club after Mass. Those who would have liked to attend the funeral but due to current restrictions cannot, may leave a personal message on https://rip.ie/cb.php?dn=457377 in ‘Condolences’
