Every year the PPU supports the children of the Holy Family National school in Monkstown Farm by organising their annual Christmas party as part of the Union's charitable activities.
Due to the Covid pandemic, unfortunately, we were not able to facilitate this and after discussion with the principal Margaret Marytn the Union was delighted to be able to support the school with a financial donation towards the following initiatives:
One of the schools' main focus was for the children to have some pride in their school and they asked the Union if we could support them to organise a clean-up for the grounds of the school, as they had become very overgrown and unpleasant with walls filled with graffiti.
The Union agreed to support this initiative and with the help of past pupils Malcom Cuffe of getagardener.ie and Gerry Harvey of SOS Cleaning Services who gave of their services free of charge, the school grounds were landscaped and jet steamed with graffiti removed.
The next steps in the clean up were with the fantastic boys of TY who, under the guidance of TY Dean Mr Patrick O'Neill spent a day painting walls and cleaning up the grounds.
The school was also donated hand sanitizer by Union committee member Aidan Corless, which was well received.
Not forgetting the children at Christmas time, the Union purchased 165 chocolate selection boxes and dropped them off to the school for distribution to all the boys and girls in the school.
Many thanks to Malcom, Gerry, Patrick and the boys of TY
