My name is Mark O'Connor and at 26, I am aiming to become the youngest Irish person to race solo across the Atlantic Ocean solo. For the previous 2 years, I have been in France sailing/racing in order to qualify for this Transatlantic race. I am now proud to say that I have qualified, and will start in September 2025 from Les Sables D'olonnes, France racing to Guadeloupe. To date I have sailed over 8,000 nautical miles with my boat, which is equivalent to 11 times around the island of Ireland!
